Vol.8 Issue 6
GLOBE Observer Homepage

For over 20 years, people have been participating in "Citizen Science", engaging in data collections, entry and analysis, partnering with scientists and Earth observing satellites, and participating in scientific measurement campaigns. If you have an interest in making environmental observations that complement NASA’s satellite observations, then the GLOBE Observer App is for you! You will be helping scientists study the earth and our global environment. Anyone in 120+ countries can download this app.

By using this application, you will be joining a global community and contributing important scientific data to NASA and GLOBE, sharing content from your local community with students and scientists worldwide.

To participate, download the app via iOS or android platforms. Register with an email address and then go outside and follow the prompts in the app to be an official observer of your environment.

To learn more about the program, visit the one-page summary. Within the GLOBE Observer app there are four main tools: Clouds, Mosquito Habitat, Land Cover and Trees. You can help monitor various conditions and see their changes over time. Some of the information can be used to interpret NASA and other satellite data. This app is available for anyone to view and explore, including fellow citizen scientists, professionals and student scientists. You can even form a virtual GLOBE team to combine your observations. Children under the age of 13 should be supervised by an adult.

By participating, you will transform the way we think about living in this world.
