A Decade of Success with AFN
Vol.8 Issue 6
Beautiful morning in Oklahoma City

While many of us are squeezing in the last bit of summer, the transition to Fall is inevitable. Students have already started back to school, Halloween decorations are in stores, and sports seasons have begun shifting. Our state is also in a transition toward an endemic phase of the pandemic. While it still exists, we at least have some experience under our belts and can better prepare ourselves, should another surge occur.

This year marks the 10th Anniversary of the Office of Finance and Management (AFN). You’ll soon be seeing some messages that reflect the growth and success of this critical organization. While many of us still remain in mandatory telework status, it’s important to complete your Telework form in CASTLE, as it is due September 9th.

In the City’s recent State of the City address, Mayor Holt announced that Oklahoma City has officially become the 20th largest city in the United States. The recent population of Oklahoma City is approximately 687,000 residents. Mayor Holt states, "This growth is happening fast, and it validates everything this community has done for three decades to build a city where people want to live."

The Aeronautical Center has been around for nearly eight decades. In addition to being in a location where people want to live, we take great pride in being a Top Workplace, where people want to work. Thanks in advance to each of you for taking time to complete the Aeronautical Center Employee Survey hosted by Energage. Remember, by sharing your opinions, we can focus on the issues that matter the most to you. The Top Workplace survey closes September 9th, so we hope you will take the time to provide your input.

Also, don’t forget about the "We’re Listening" website. This is a place for Aeronautical Center employees to share opinions, voice concerns, request information, or just become more involved in the engagement process. Submissions can be anonymous, or you can enter your contact information for direct feedback.

As we shared in earlier broadcasts, please be sure to visit our food service vendors during these challenging times. With a reduced employee presence at the Aeronautical Center, the businesses at these establishments have slowed down tremendously. In order to keep these services active and available to us in the future, please be sure to visit them for a meal while working on Center. Their weekly menus are delicious, so be sure to pay them a visit.

We’re very excited about the re-opening of the Aeronautical Center’s fitness center that will be happening soon. A new provider has been selected to oversee operations and cater to your fitness needs. It’s a lot easier to travel only a few buildings away instead of driving several miles in rush-hour traffic to get a good work out. Whether you like to work out first thing in the morning, during your lunchtime or after work, there’s a lot to be said for convenience.

Thanks for the contributions you make every day to the Aeronautical Center workforce.

Kindly,

Michelle Coppedge
Director, Mike Monroney Aeronautical Center
