Small Business Outreach Has Large Presence at Indian Country Business Summit

City, State and Federal agencies set up booths at the conference to discuss ways of contracting with the federal government.

The FAA’s Mike Monroney Aeronautical Center (MMAC) was well represented this year at the 2018 Indian Country Business Summit (held on August 21 and 22, 2018), at the Embassy Suites Hotel, and Conference Center in Norman, Oklahoma. Their theme was “Diversity in Government Contracting.”

This annual minority small business outreach event was hosted by the Oklahoma Tribal Government Institute (TGI), and the Oklahoma Procurement Technical Assistance (PTAC) Centers. The Conference included a Trade Show with vendors and contractors (from all over the country), exhibiting their products and services to State, City, and Federal Government agencies. Workshop/Breakout Sessions were held both days providing small business entrepreneur’s with “how to” information, focusing primarily on Federal Government Contracting. On Tuesday of the event, Gerald Lewis, Sr., Small Business Advocate for the FAA Small Business Development Program Branch (AAP-610) conducted a workshop on “Doing Business with the FAA.” Then on Wednesday, representatives from MMAC’s major program organizations participated in the “Matchmaking Activity,” which provided small businesses with an opportunity to meet (one-on-one) with MMAC program and procurement officials.
