MMAC Participates in the 2023 FAA Virtual DEIA Symposium
Vol.9 Issue 5
FAA Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Accessibility Symposium

The Mike Monroney Aeronautical Center (MMAC) once again participated in the Federal Aviation Administration’s (FAA) Annual Diversity, Equity Inclusion & Accessibility (DEIA) Symposium that took place June 27-29, 2023. This year is the third year that the MMAC hosted a virtual booth at the event.

The two-day event had just over 330 visitors at any one time and the MMAC booth had 35 visitors with 25 views watching the "At the Center" corporate video. Attendees were able to visit twelve different FAA booths and chat with organizational representatives, participate in fun icebreaker conversations and challenges with other participants. They were also able to join in live chats on various DEIA topics, attending sessions and panel discussions on subjects such as Special Emphasis Program Manager Discussions, Unmasking Unconscious Bias, Overcoming Biases Using Exponential Mindsets, and Working Across Multiple Generations, just to name a few.

The event was sponsored by the FAA’s Office of Civil Rights. The symposium featured training and discussions from industry leaders who continue to challenge our perspectives and assist us with developing new ideas to ensure that the Federal Government is a "Premier Employer" from the perspective of DEIA and into the future.

The symposium had a fun photo booth feature and a robust resource area that provided recordings and resources for attendees to download regarding topics of Resiliency in Times of Uncertainty, Exercising Empathy and Emotional Intelligence, and various session presentations.
