Effective October 15, 2022, the the Office of Facility Management (AMP) will close the tunnel that connects the Headquarters Building (HQ), Aviation Records Building (ARB), Multipurpose Building (MPB), and Civil Aerospace Medical Institute Building (CAMI). This closure also includes the MPB Parking Lot stairwell. This closure is to repair the concrete slab, repaint the walls, and improve tunnel ventilation. The work will include demolition of the concrete slab, installation of a waterproof coating, placement of a concrete topping slab, new textured floor coating, new wall paint, handrails, and new ventilation systems.
The closure is scheduled for October 15, 2022 through April 15, 2023. On high alert weather days, the tunnel will be made available for use as a storm shelter.
If the work gets completed before the end of the scheduled outage, barriers will be removed, and the tunnel will reopen earlier than scheduled.
