Winners for State Aviation & Aerospace Art Contest Announced

The names of students who won the 2022 Oklahoma Aviation & Aerospace Art Contest have been announced by the Oklahoma Aeronautics Commission. Youth, ages 6 to 17 within the state are eligible to compete. This year’s theme was "Design Your Perfect Aircraft." State Director of Aeronautics, Grayson Ardies expressed, "This contest is a conduit for students to explore aviation. If we can reach them at the earliest of ages, we can guide them into STEM-based education and aviation and aerospace careers."

Junior Division (ages 6-9 yrs)
1st place: Grace Huang, Truman Elementary School, Norman
2nd place: Elvin Liu Zhu, Frontier Elementary School, Edmond
3rd place: Matthew Henderson, Cyril Elementary School
Honorable Mention: Alannah Kavlaity, Cyril Elementary School


Chan U Leng, Duncan – 3rd Place, Intermediate category

Intermediate Division (ages 10-13 yrs)
1st place: Olivia Zhao, Plainview Middle School, Ardmore
2nd place: Ava Haick, Yukon Middle School
3rd place: Chan U. Leng, Duncan Middle School
Honorable Mention: Daphne Greenley, Yukon Middle School


Alexis Reichert, Atoka, 2nd place, Senior category

Senior Division (ages 14-17 yrs)
1st place: Marian Winchell, Edmond High School
2nd place: Alexis Reichert, Atoka High School
3rd place: Lilana De Loera, Astec Charter High School, Oklahoma City
Honorable Mention: Jose Lopez, Astec Charter High School, Oklahoma City

Each of the top three entries in each category have been forwarded to Washington D.C. where they will compete nationally against other winners from the U.S. for the right to advance to the international competition.

The 2022 International Aviation Art Contest is sponsored, in large part, by the National Aeronautic Association, Fédération Aéronautique Internationale, National Association of State Aviation Officials, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, National Coalition for Aviation and Space Education, Federal Aviation Administration, and the Ken Cook Co.
