2022 DASHO Safety Awards
Vol.8 Issue 5

Every year the agency recognizes above and beyond efforts in helping to establish a strong safety culture. It has become a mindset to use in everyday life. The Designated Agency Safety and Health Official (DASHO) Support Group is a lead organization within the FAA that is charged with supporting or assisting the DASHO in securing employee safety and health in the workplace. The goal is to also provide the FAA with expertise to meet the requirements of occupational safety and health (OSH) regulations, orders, and objectives, while supporting all lines of business, staff offices and Centers.

The DASHO Support Group is designated or appointed by the head of the agency, pursuant to 29 US Code of Federal Regulation (CFR) 1960.6 and the provisions of Executive Order 12196.

This year, some Aeronautical Center individuals & teams were recognized with a 2022 Designated Agency Safety & Health Official (DASHO) Award. The DASHO Safety Awards recognize support for the FAA's mission through significant initiative, innovation, leadership, and long-term commitment to advancing a culture of workplace safety and personal accountability. The Aeronautical Center’s Office of Facility Management COVID-19 Response Team received a DASHO Safety Team Award for successfully tracking approximately 1,400 total cases (confirmed, presumed, and suspected) and performing over 400 separate Level 3 deep cleanings. Despite a large number of mission critical employees on-site daily, and the high number of cases, the team helped limit the number of workplace transmissions to only a few instances with no widespread outbreak.
