Tamala Barnes Named as Director of AFN’s Enterprise Services Center

Tamala Barnes has been appointed as Director of the Enterprise Services Center (ESC). She started her new leadership position on March 28.

Barnes was most recently the Acting Director of the ESC, where she provided critical leadership over driving improvements in customer relationships, decreasing customer pricing, improving customer engagement meetings, and increasing customer satisfaction scores. Prior to this role, she served as ESC’s Senior Advisor, developing strategy for ESC and assisting with operational oversight in tandem with the Director, and working closely with executives from DOT B-30 and the FAA to ensure success with mission requirements involving both financial and IT shared services.

Barnes has over 20 years of experience in the FAA, with three years of prior Senior Executive Service experience, while serving as the Director of AIT’s Solution Delivery Services.

She started her FAA career in 1999 as an Information Technology Manager for Aviation Systems Standards, which is now a part of Air Traffic Organization (ATO). In her FAA career, Barnes has changed roles multiple times through the FAA’s IT consolidation journey. She’s managed the breadth of IT and has held senior leadership roles in enterprise architecture software development and more.

Barnes brings more than three decades of information technology and management experience to the table, as well as executive advisory, financial management, Total Quality Management/business process reengineering, and corporate training expertise.
