Center Employees Mindful of Aviation Safety during Holidays
Vol.5 Issue 8
While it might look like Santa with his sleigh, it’s really a multi-exposure, stacked image of an aircraft on approach flying into Will Rogers World Airport. (Photo courtesy of Bryan Dahlvang, AMC-3).

Christmas is almost here. Soon the rushing around of holiday gatherings, Christmas shopping, seasonal activities will cease and we can take time to reflect on the warm memories that we share with family and friends. This year the Aeronautical Center made some pretty phenomenal accomplishments. For instance, we are well on our way to achieving our savings goal of $20M by FY 2020; we’ve kicked off a new Ambassador program for employees called AsCEnD, that helps employees to become more-informed Aeronautical Center representatives. Thanks to Facility Management, we’ve exceed the mandate in reaching our conservation and energy goals; we’ve been able to offer electric vehicle parking to employees; the FAA Academy has modernized a lot of their virtual training; there’s more new parking around the Headquarters building; business processes in the Enterprise Services Center (ESC) have been re-engineered to promote efficiencies and reduce costs; the ESC has increased the bandwidth of internet connection across the Aeronautical Center - benefitting both employees and customers alike; several of our employees have been recognized nationally for their efforts in safety, leadership and financial services. One of our vital business partners, the Transportation Safety Institute has relocated to a modernized building on the Center; and just recently, we celebrated 10-years of collaboration with a ribbon cutting ceremony between the Logistics Center and Customs and Border Protection, introducing a new Enterprise Test Bed.

As federal employees, we have so many things to be thankful for and none of this would be possible without each of you providing dedicated support and commitment to our mission, supporting the safe and efficient operation of our national and international aviation systems while providing competitive business solutions for our customers.

We learned through some of our recent Employee Engagement sessions that having a highly engaged workforce is not limited just to organizational performance. In fact, members from the Gallup Corporation conveyed to us that engaged workers have a lower level of stress, anxiety, and bad cholesterol.

Toys in plastic bags surround the Employees Association Christmas tree, staged for Toys for Tots.

As a reminder, it’s not too late to give to the Combined Federal Campaign. The deadline for this year’s campaign is January 12, 2020. We are at 75% toward reaching our goal of $215,000. Please consider helping someone in need with a donation. Special thanks to the ESC, Human Resources and AMC Offices for participating in a Toys for Tots Drive, and collecting over 800 toys, helping thousands of Oklahoma military families to have a brighter Christmas this year.

Please mark your calendars for Wednesday, January 15th, as Kevin and I will open up our small conference room for an Open House from 1:30-3pm, serving light refreshments. We look forward to seeing you and catching up with you after the New Year.

May your holiday be filled with good health and happiness, and cheer. Thank you for being a treasured member of the Aeronautical Center team.

Warm wishes to you and yours,

Michelle Coppedge
