Black History Month

February is Black History month, and it’s a time to celebrate the achievements made by African Americans and raise awareness of the numerous contributions made to society and America’s history.

The Black History Month Committee has some meaningful activities planned for all Aeronautical Center employees. We hope you will make it a point to attend some of the events that have been so thoughtfully organized.

Wednesday, February 1st 11am-Noon, Headquarters Auditorium
Kickoff of Black History Month

2017 National Black History Month theme: "The Crisis in Black Education”

There will be a panel discussion on the crucial role of education in the history of African Americans, and the crucial role of education for the State of Oklahoma.

Panel Members include: OKCPS Board Members Ruth Veales (District 5) and Gloria Torres (District 6); Superintendent Cecilia Robinson-Woods (Millwood Public Schools) and Alice Strong-Simmons, Associate Vice-President, Langston University/Oklahoma City

Musical Selections by: Nicole Mukes (Accounting Technician, AFN) and Terry James (Distance Learning Support Specialist, AFN)

Tuesday, February 14th 10:30am-1pm, Einstein’s
Soul Food Luncheon and Bazaar

Wednesday, February 22nd, Headquarters Auditorium
Concert: 11:30 – 12:30
Bake Sale: 10:00 – 1:00pm
Musical performance by Adam & Kizzie: R&B, Soul, Jazz, and Hip Hop
