As part of a national campaign among Federal agencies, the Mike Monroney Aeronautical Center has an ongoing commitment to positively impacting our community, and this year was no different.
The Feds Feed Families campaign is a noble initiative organized by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) to combat hunger and provide essential food to those in need. We believe in the power of collective effort. Together, we can make a significant difference in the lives of countless families facing food insecurity. Through the generosity and kindness of our MMAC family in supporting this important cause through donations of non-perishable food items. The contributions of MMAC employees directly benefit local food banks and pantries, ensuring that nutritious meals reach the most vulnerable members of our community. This year, we raised 561 pounds of food and $384.90 through online giving, all of which helped provide 1,622 meals to those with hunger in our state.
We are grateful for everyone's contributions, as there were many ways to donate: online or in person at a food bank or food pantry, volunteering your time at a food bank or harvesting produce at a farm, participating in a food drive event at work, and contributing to the Combined Federal Campaign.
Feds Feed Families (FFF) and Combined Federal Campaign (CFC) collaboration capitalizes on aligning these two federal initiatives. The mission of Feds Feed Families falls under the CFC's "health and human services" umbrella, and FFF and CFC encourage giving among federal employees. CFC is the world's largest and most successful annual workplace charity campaign. Pledges made by federal civilian, postal, and military donors during the campaign season support eligible nonprofit organizations that provide health and human service benefits worldwide.
Donations made to a Combined Federal Campaign (CFC) food bank or pantry charity during the CFC giving season can also be recorded on the FFF Hub and added to the food drive total. To take advantage of this two-for-one giving opportunity:
Volunteers from the Aeronautical Center, along with friends and family members, donated their time and energy on Saturday, October 12th, from 9:30 a.m. to noon to help sort, package, label, and palletize 451 boxes of bread. This equals 5,863 lbs., which equates to 4,886 meals! These efforts help support 53 different counties in Oklahoma.
