2023 Chinese New Year – Year of the Rabbit

Happy New Year everyone!

We are also grateful to many of you who took time out to come and say, "Hello" during our AMC New Year Open House. It was great to kick off the year this way, and it was so good to see many of you, face-to-face and personally reconnect since the global health crisis interrupted many of our interactions.

The 2022 Combined Federal Campaign wrapped up, and our final tally was $208K. The giving spirit of MMAC employees continues to bless so many in need. Thanks to everyone who volunteered and donated. We had a larger giving base of employees this year and our contributions made us #1 in the Oklahoma North Texas Region. Your efforts even surpassed those of Tinker Air Force Base. Most importantly, is what the contributions mean to our local area. Your contributions support many worthwhile causes in our community, making a huge difference and shining a light on so many important issues. Thank you! We are blessed to have such caring and generous employees at the FAA MMAC.

This month, myself and the AMC Management Team along with Gallup helped to launch the AMC Employee Engagement Survey. The survey was open to all AMC employees the first two weeks of February. We are thrilled that 85% of the employees that received the survey, took time to give us their feedback. This is the highest participation to date by MMAC in a Gallup Q12 survey, and a strong indication of positive employee engagement. This survey helps us as leaders, and our organizations, know more about the desires of our employees and what matters to them the most at work. We know priorities can change over time but we are committed to staying laser focused on making improvements towards higher employee engagement and keeping this sustained.

We are also pleased to have taken the time to recognize those employees who have gone above and beyond in their achievements, working toward the Secretary of Transportation’s priorities of safety, economic strength, global competitiveness, equity, climate and sustainability, and transformation and organizational excellence. MMAC had many award winners in the recent DOT awards ceremony across multiple LOBs at the Center. These awards are a true testament to the value of the goals and objectives worked and completed across the Center. Thank you – we value the important contributions that these DOT award-winning individuals continue to make.

With the start of a new year and the growth of STEM-related opportunities, you will likely see more STEM tours at the Center. We recently partnered with OKC Thunder as part of their Aerospace Day/Night, hosting a mini exhibition as part of an employee engagement activity while the Thunder hosted the Cleveland Cavaliers at the Paycom Center. Additionally, we have two groups of students from Norman Public Schools that are part of their newly formed aviation program come and tour the Center. We look forward to continuing our outreach in these areas. We hope you were able to take part of this fun opportunity while promoting Aerospace.

Kindly,

Michelle Coppedge
Director, Mike Monroney Aeronautical Center
