Human Resources Steps Up STEM Recruitment
Vol.9 Issue 2

Members from the Aeronautical Center’s Human Resources (HR) Department have been busy out in the community ensuring that students are aware of career options when it comes to aviation. On a frequent schedule, HR representatives are talking to students, sharing information about job opportunities across the FAA. Here are some of their recent activities:

  • College Career Fair
    OSU-Tulsa, September 28, 2022, 2:30-4:30pm

HR Representative, Carlene Smith participated in a recruitment event at Oklahoma State University in Tulsa, OK. The event was well organized, and a large number of students turned out for the occasion. The students were prepped and came ready to discuss potential employer possibilities.

  • High School Career Fair
    Moore High School, October 11, 2022, 7:30am-Noon

A Career Fair was held at Moore High School on behalf of Tiffany Jones, Human Resources Specialist of Employment Services (AHF-S210) along with Justin Cockroft, Manager of the Quality Systems & Business Resources Staff (AMC-3). Several prospective colleges and universities attended the event, providing a range of job opportunities for the students. These Aeronautical Center representatives talked to approximately 75 students about what FAA is, and the different kinds of careers that are available at the FAA.

  • Aerospace Career Fair
    Rose State College, March 2, 2023, 9am-2pm

Human Resource Specialists, Jeffry Westlake and Tia Bagby represented the Aeronautical Center at a recent Aerospace Career Fair. Jeff is designated as Employment Services’ new STEM/Recruitment Program Coordinator. The event hosted over 900 students, solidifying the need for further aviation recruitment. Those who visited the FAA table had little to no experience, education, or knowledge about the types of positions available at the FAA. The Aeronautical Center’s educational outreach continues to be part of our mission in hopes of building awareness of aviation and aerospace as a career path for the younger generation and young professionals.
