To celebrate the holidays, the AMC Employee Engagement Committee brought Aeronautical Center employees together for some hot cocoa, cookies, and delicious food at the Blue Sky Café. The event was held on December 6th from 11am to 1pm. There were carolers singing, the Western Heights brass band was playing, and tables were set up for CFC Charities to share important information about their causes. Cultural booths from the Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Accessibility (DEIA) Council and various Employee Association groups were also in attendance.
Old Saint Nicholas paid a visit to the Center, which attracted children from the Launching Pad Child Development Center. They also came to sing some carols in their elf costumes and warmed the crowd to smiles, especially when the adult carolers and crowd members joined in singing "We Wish You a Merry Christmas!"
Topping the bill at the event was the first ever (MMAC-wide) Ugly Christmas Sweater Contest. Votes were tallied virtually over Mentimeter.com, in real time. By the end of the event, Susan O’Hara, Program Manager in AJI-2200, won first place. She won a $20 gift certificate to the Employee Association Book Store. Second place was achieved by Sindhura Duggisetti, a Programmer Analyst in AMK-240. She took home a $10 gift certificate to the EA Bookstore. Third place went to the Center’s Chief of Staff, Kim Sheppard. All three winners received a beautiful certificate to commemorate their victories, presented by the Aeronautical Center’s Deputy Director, Kevin O’Connor. Honorable mentions went to Melissa K. Sherman, an Electronics Technician in AJW-L32, and Sheree VanNoy, a Management and Program Analyst from AMC-3.
