Road Closures
Vol.5 Issue 7

As a result of the construction work associated with the Multi-Purpose Building (MPB), your route to the office on the Aeronautical Center may need to be adjusted. Beginning October 28, 2019, Denning Ave. between Lindy Ritz Lane and SW 66th will be temporarily closed for construction work associated with the MPB Renovation Project. The sidewalk along Denning Avenue will also be closed.

Both Denning Avenue. and the sidewalk will be re-opened by approximately November 18, 2019, subject to weather. The parking lot north of the Launching Pad can still be accessed during this time.

Regarding the road construction outside of the Center, you may already know, but 74th Street has been closed between S. MacArthur Boulevard and Regina Avenue until November 12th, 2019 (keeping in mind that weather may cause delays). Despite the closure, there are plenty of ways to get to the gates.

A few key points:

  • The MMAC South Gate will only be accessible from Northbound MacArthur.
  • MMAC employees/contractors coming to the center from the West on SW 74th Street can access the center via the West Gate on Regina or take SW 89th to MacArthur and enter at the South Gate. See attached drawing for more details.
  • The MMAC Maintenance Gate and South Campus Gate off SW 74th Street will be open and accessible the entire duration but the maintenance gate will only be open for maintenance vehicles (same as it is now).
  • The MMAC Commercial Vehicle Gate will be open the entire duration but only for Commercial vehicles (same as it is now).
  • SW 74th Street will only be open to commercial vehicles.
  • The MMAC West Gate will be open the entire duration.
  • AMP will monitor the car volume at the West Gate on Regina and will keep the 3rd lane open longer as needed.

Please follow the alternate routes shown on this map and follow all traffic signs posted.

Additionally, the roads near the Will Rogers World Airport are being maintained. Since October 14th, lanes were narrowed on Terminal Drive, the main roadway in and out of the airport terminal area, as part of a $4.5 Million reconstruction project. A document was created that explains the details and the three phases of construction.
