MMAC and FAA Implement New Emergency Notification System
Vol.4 Issue 4
ENS Emergency Notification System

Background
The FAA has deployed a new enhanced communications system for contacting employees and contractors via text message, email, cell phone, desktop pop-up, and a mobile application in the event of emergencies or special situations. The agency’s new Emergency Notification System, or ENS, replaced the existing system that broadcasts notifications to employees. Other notification functions, including Quick Alerts text messages, have been consolidated into the ENS to create a unified, cloud-based system. This upgrade expands the user base, speeds the timing of notifications, adds more notification options, and enhances the capability for reporting on personnel during events.

Coming soon, MMAC will begin using the new Emergency Notification System. The new system will not be an opt-in type system for FAA employees and FAA contractors. FAA employees and FAA contractors with network access MUST update their MyFAA Profile in order to receive the emergency/alert messages. If your profile is not current, you will risk not receiving the emergency/alert messages.

Usage
ENS provides a means of communicating quickly, accounting for the status of employees and contractors in emergency situations (messages such as facility closures, power outages, security and weather alerts, employee accountability and other general information).

Mobile App
Before downloading this app, please make sure that your MyFAA profile has been updated with current contact information. Follow the steps below to install and activate the ENS Mobile App on your iOS and Android enabled devices.

You will go to your Apps Store (iOS) or Play Store (Android) and search for Blackberry AtHoc. Once you download the app, you will be prompted for your Apple ID or Android password. Just follow the rest of the commands to install the app.

If you need any assistance, contact the ENS Support team.
