The Aeronautical Center is taking part in an agency-wide effort to support the “Feds Feeds Families” program. Here’s your chance to bring in non-perishable items, now through Thursday, October 18th and support the Regional Food Bank and our efforts to fight hunger. The Regional Food Bank will be picking up the donations throughout the campaign. The final MMAC collection will be on or around October 16th. However, online contributions will be accepted until October 18th.

Local food banks around the country are facing severe shortages of non-perishable items. Summer is a particularly difficult time as many children do not have access to free lunches that they normally receive through their school's nutrition programs.

The Feds Feed Families Food Drive is a government-wide effort led by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) and the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) in partnership with the Chief Human Capital Officers (CHCO) Council.

Participation is voluntary – Department of Transportation (DOT) employees have always been leaders when it comes to helping others. Employees are encouraged to donate at least five pounds of non-perishable food items. Whether you physically contribute non-perishable items or prefer to donate through online monetary donations, your efforts will make a difference. Challenge yourself and your co-workers to help those in need.

The most desired non-perishable items include:

• Cereal
• Peanut Butter
• Granola Bars
• Heat & serve meals: ravioli, lasagna, spaghetti, meatballs and macaroni
• Fruit Cups (in water or 100% juice, not in heavy syrup)
• Canned protein items: chili, chicken, tuna, beans and salmon
• Broth-based canned soup: chicken and noodle, stew and beef soup. High in protein and low in sodium preferred.
