Pilots Needed for CAMI Research Study

The FAA’s Civil Aerospace Medical Institute (CAMI) is recruiting pilots in the Oklahoma City area to participate in a paid research study at the Mike Monroney Aeronautical Center. Eligible pilots who participate will immediately receive a $300 prepaid gift card for their participation.

To be eligible for this study, you must:

  • Have flown or logged simulator time at least once in the last 6 months.
  • Have an FAA-issued pilot certificate and medical certificate.
  • Be operating with 3rd class medical privileges.
  • Be between the ages of 40-64 years old.

If you are in the Oklahoma City area, CAMI would like to schedule your participation! Federal employees who wish to participate must do so during non-duty hours. The study is not limited to FAA employees. Please share with friends who may be interested!

Participation takes approximately four hours (including breaks) and involves completing two computerized cognitive tests related to working memory, attention, mental rotation, and multi-tasking performance. This study has received FAA Institutional Review Board (IRB) approval.

To schedule, complete the form using the following link, or scan the QR code and select your top two days of the week and times at the Oklahoma City location. You may also call 405-954-2647 or email cogstudy@faa.gov to schedule.

If you are eligible, Cherokee Federal, a third-party contractor, will call (or email) you to confirm your time slot. Note that depending on your phone provider, the call identifier may appear to be spam.

This study is to obtain pilot normative data for these computerized tests. The FAA uses these tests to help recertify pilots for flying following a medical event (e.g., stroke, head injury, specific medication). The results of this study will help ensure that aeromedical decision-making is based on the most current scientific data and will contribute to the safety of the National Airspace System (NAS). More information is available on the FAA Cognitive Test PAID Study (Cogstudy) FAQs.
