On the evening of March 20th, several employees from across the Aeronautical Center donated two hours of their time to help at the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma. The volunteers sort, pack, and prepare food for a variety of Regional Food Bank Programs. The time goes quickly as the volunteers have a friendly competition among one another as to who can pack the most. It’s great fellowship and the Foodbank goes all out to ensure that it is an enjoyable experience for everyone. The Foodbank plays some music to help invigorate the teams.
"I volunteered at the Regional Food Bank years ago, and I don’t remember it being so much fun! I had a GREAT time last night! I met some really nice people, and I LOVED the music! It was like we were at a karaoke bar without the alcohol, of course! I will definitely volunteer again! Thank you for putting it all together for us!"
"My experience was very positive. I very much enjoyed volunteering. I’ve done so there in the past and would definitely do again." Steve Wellman, Windows Systems Administrator
"Thank you for the opportunity to volunteer last night at the Oklahoma Regional Food Bank. It warms my heart to know that we were able to assist with providing 2,227.5 meals to those in need of the food that we all so often take for granted. My daughter and I enjoyed our time there – there was good music, and everyone was helpful and cheerful. Our volunteer coordinators explained our tasks thoroughly and with much enthusiasm. We would appreciate the opportunity to assist again in the future if opportunities are available – just let us know."
"[It is] always a great feeling knowing you can give back to the community. Even if it’s just for a few short hours every month. The feeling afterwards is very uplifting. As for volunteering again? Of course, that’s not even a question." Javier R. Cruz, FAA Academy Instructor/Course Manager
Oklahoma is ranked the fifth hungriest in the nation. The majority of people served by the Regional Food Bank are chronically hungry children, seniors living on limited incomes, and hardworking families struggling to make ends meet. From 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm, MMAC employees worked on frozen bulk items and completed 99 cases of food! This equates to 2,673 pounds of food, equaling 2,227.5 meals! Thanks again to everyone who volunteered their time for a worthwhile cause
