The FAA’s Logistics Center is getting ready to ‘Go Live’ with the Logistics Center Support System (LCSS). The LCSS is a Commercial-off-the-Shelf (COTS) Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software product that will replace numerous legacy supply chain support applications including the Logistics Information System (LIS).
This new LCSS program provides the ability to execute the existing supply chain operation, as well as provide numerous opportunities for the FAA to achieve transformational supply chain management goals for the future. The implementation of LCSS directly supports agency initiatives of improving the National Airspace System (NAS) operations more cost efficiently.
‘Go-Live’ enhances the supply chain management business processes. LCSS is completing the final testing phase prior to achieving ‘Go-Live’. Currently, the LCSS program is conducting Transition and Data Migration activities. During this transition period, requisitioning activities have been reduced, and only the most critical need orders are being processed through LIS online requisitioning or by contacting the Customer Care Center. During ‘Go-Live’, the LCSS Customer Ordering Portal adds functionality to Returns, Request for Quote, and Order History Details.
Achieving the Go-Live milestone is a result of the hard work and collaboration with stakeholders from several FAA organizations (AJW, AML, ESC, AFO, ACQ, and PMO). LCSS is one of the programs contributing to meeting the agency’s Organizational Success Increase (OSI)/ Superior Contribution Increase (SCI) goals.
Numerous orientation sessions and other training media were provided to reach the entire user population. In addition to orientation, the LCSS Help Desk was established to facilitate end-user support and to act as a centralized communication resource to the user community. The final milestone for the LCSS program is to achieve Full Operational Capability (FOC) by April 30, 2016. FOC includes the following functionalities:
The April 2016 FOC milestone will eliminate the FAA’s reliance on LIS.
