Facility Management Teams in New Jersey & Oklahoma Collaborate on Their Missions
Vol.9 Issue 8

In October, the Office of Facility Management (AMP) hosted members of the William J. Hughes Technical Center (AMG-3) Center Operations Division. ANG-3, led by their division manager Michael Sears, brought a team of managers and technical leaders to the Mike Monroney Aeronautical Center. The two groups were able to meet in the newly renovated Base Maintenance Building (Bldg 15), where the Office of Facility Management is now located.

Over three days, the joint event included detailed program reviews, an in-depth tour of the MMAC Center and facilities, and numerous breakout sessions focused on both groups’ energy programs, safety, environmental, security, maintenance, architecture/engineering, construction, space management, Archibus, and financial programs. Subject matter experts in each program area spent significant time with their peers from both Centers, sharing details on their processes, programs, best practices, and lessons learned.

AMP shared the full breadth of their processes for MMAC’s facilities capital improvement program, including lifecycle-based facility assessments, capital planning, budgeting, scope development, design, and execution of construction. They also shared their success with their Indefinite Delivery Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) construction contracts, which have become a best practice to enable efficient and timely bidding and awarding of minor construction projects. They shared detailed information on the structure and processes around their Center-wide facility maintenance service contract, including the types and levels of service. They also shared detailed information about their facility management system, Archibus, including multiple demonstrations and discussions on various programs AMP manages using this critical tool.

ANG-3 revealed fascinating insights into its organizational structure and an array of innovative programs it manages. These programs showcase their commitment to excellence. They provided a detailed analysis of their funding structure, customer base, and the unique challenges within their expansive facility. They shed light on a critical capital project linked to their FAA-owned electrical substation. Additionally, ANG-E-3 shared exciting developments on the tech refresh of their campus security system, highlighting the remarkable features available with this new system.

Over three days, members from both Centers met, sharing ideas, best practices, and further possibilities for collaboration.
