Trail-Blazing 2020 MMAC Combined Federal Campaign Comes to a Close
Vol.7 Issue 2
Our CFC Team – MMAC CFC Co-Chairs: Kimberley Sheppard, Debbie Uglean, Cynde Starnes, Sarah Musler

Just like the year 2020 itself, the 2020 Combined Federal Campaign (CFC) at the Mike Monroney Aeronautical Center (MMAC) was a crazy ride. The global health crisis threatened to derail the CFC campaign by canceling all in-person activities and events. However, the brilliant and resilient employees of the Aeronautical Center stared down the health crisis and put a CFC Campaign together that was nothing short of a smashing success!

Hard work and grit, coupled with a pioneering spirit, drove the employees of the MMAC to assemble a host of imaginative and creative virtual CFC events. From online charity fairs hosted over lunch breaks, to ugly sweater and baby photo matching games, to collaboration on a virtual holiday cookbook, the ingenuity of the people of the Aeronautical Center was on full display, and their generosity shined even brighter! The 2020 CFC Campaign set a goal at the beginning of the campaign to raise $230,000 and by the end, that goal was obliterated, with almost $238,000 raised. The employees of the Aeronautical Center proved once again that they are among the most engaged and generous Federal Employees in the country!

None of this would have been possible without the incredible vision and leadership of the MMAC CFC Team. Aeronautical Center Chief of Staff and 2020 CFC Local Federal Coordinating Committee Chair, Kim Sheppard, championed the CFC mission, not only at the Aeronautical Center, but all across the Oklahoma-North Texas CFC Region. At the Aeronautical Center, CFC Champions Debbie Uglean, Cynde Starnes, and Sarah Musler led a team of 50 Coordinators and Keyworkers, connecting 3,500 Federal Employees and 2,800 contractors at the MMAC to hundreds of local, national, and international CFC charities and non-profit organizations.

These four Champions rewrote the book on how CFC Campaigns are executed. Their ground-breaking approach led to the Aeronautical Center hosting the first CFC Telethon in the history of CFC. Not only did they set the standard for executing such virtual events, but they opened the door for other Federal agencies across the nation to host similar events.

Combined Federal Campaign – Show Some Love

With hundreds of employees demonstrating such incredible generosity, the Mike Monroney Aeronautical Center continues to set an example for other Federal Agencies. The impact from employees’ donations will continue to be felt throughout the year. From the CFC Telethon event alone, over 47 CFC charities and non-profit organizations were directly supported with donations. Working together, the 6,300 employees of the MMAC - led by their CFC Champions - donated hundreds of thousands of dollars to dozens of charities and created a lasting impact. Like the year 2020, this year’s CFC campaign was one for the books.
