The TARMAC: Training ARound MMAC

Human psychology and physiology are fascinating things. We humans have an incredibly refined, precision instrument safely secured within our cranium. This machine is responsible for coordinating all of our bodily operations, managing our thought processes, and interpreting sensory input from within and without. Signals are sent and received over approximately 37 miles of interconnected nerve passages. According to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), the brain connects us to our world at a processing speed of about 60 bits per second.

We demand a lot from our brains and they are very responsive and capable. However, sometimes we ask too much of them, taxing them to the limit, dangerously stressing them, and requiring more than our bodies and brains can provide. In our current social, economic, and political environment, we are surrounded by so many different stressors and demands. Decisions and inputs come flying at us at high speeds from all angles. How do we overcome these challenges and thrive? Resilience is the key! LMS has a number of courses available to help develop and improve our resilience:

  • Take a Deep Breath and Manage Your Stress:
(FAA COURSE pd_30_a03_bs_enus) This course explains the physiological, behavioral, and psychological signs and symptoms of stress and provides strategies for maintaining work/life balance.
  • Forging Ahead with Perseverance and Resilience:
(FAA COURSE pe_03_a01_bs_enus) In this course, you'll learn to develop personal resiliency, adaptability, and perseverance. You'll explore the resources and people it takes to sustain perseverance.
  • Reaching Goals Using Perseverance and Resilience:
(FAA COURSE pe_03_a02_bs_enus) Reaching your goals requires a certain resilience. Being resilient and able to get back up when you are knocked down helps you to take the next step and continue on your planned course.
