The start of the New Year is an opportunity to reflect on the past year and set focus for the year ahead. It is often a time of aligning priorities and setting goals to achieve. Did you set any goals for the New Year? Are you trying to read more books this year? Trying to get in shape? How about self-improvement and self-care? Spend less time in front of electronic screens and more time out in nature? The New Year also offers an opportunity to find ways to get your career in shape and improve yourself at work!

The FAA’s eLMS Learning Management System offers many different ways to strengthen and improve your work "muscles"! eLMS offers a host of online training modules. Whether you browse the catalog and pick-and-choose a training course or pick from a curated selection of offerings, eLMS can help you achieve your goals! Upon signing into eLMS, members can select the "FAA Professional Skills" link and access trainings that are tailored to developing skills for all career positions. Also available are a selection of leadership development trainings accessible through the "Exploring Leadership" link.

Perhaps one of the best ways to stick to a goal is to document it! An Individual Development Plan (IDP) is a great way to develop and define a goal, as well as keeping it visible and on track. The new FAA Course (30100004) "Creating and Managing Your IDP" provides an excellent overview to the IDP Creation process. IDP’s are not mandatory for employees (they are mandatory for managers), but they can serve as an excellent tool for pursuing career developmental goals.

Good luck in pursuing your 2021 goals!
