Aeronautical Center Celebrates Engineering Week February 21-27, 2021
Vol.7 Issue 2
Engineering Week – February 21-27, 2021

Each year during the third week of February, organizations and corporations across the country take action to ensure a diverse and well-educated future engineering workforce by increasing the understanding of, and interest in, engineering and technology careers. The National Society of Professional Engineers (NSPE) was established in 1934 to "create an inclusive, nontechnical organization dedicated to the interests of licensed professional engineers, regardless of practice, that would protect engineers (and the public) from unqualified practitioners, build public recognition for the profession, and stand against unethical practices and inadequate compensation" (NSEP 2021, para. 1). Engineering Week is now a formal coalition of more than 70 engineering, education, and cultural societies, and more than 50 corporations and government agencies.

Without engineering, the world would look drastically different. The Federal Aviation Administration employs engineers in a wide range of specialty areas to design, invent and innovate technology, structures and processes, and to find practical solutions to current and future aviation needs. There are many different types of engineers that are needed within the FAA ranging from Aerospace Engineers, Chemical or Civil engineers to Electrical, Electronic, and Software engineers. These are just some examples of engineering opportunities within the FAA.

We applaud the work and dedication of our engineering members at the Mike Monroney Aeronautical Center. We are proud to work alongside each of you and wish everyone a happy Engineering Week!
