Mike Monroney Aeronautical Center Ranked Among Oklahoma’s Top Places to Work
Vol.6 Issue 9
Mike Monroney Aeronautical Center earned a high position in the Oklahoman’s Top Workplaces of 2020

Congratulations to the Mike Monroney Aeronautical Center for being selected as one of the Top 20 Workplaces in the State of Oklahoma! Back in September, employees voluntarily and anonymously participated in an employee engagement survey hosted by Energage and The Oklahoman. The Aeronautical Center received a 49% response rate among employees, reinforcing that this is an engaged and energized workforce. Jerry Wagner, Audience Sponsorship Manager with The Oklahoman stated, "It typically takes a company 3 years of participation in the survey to earn recognition as a Top Workplace, so the Aeronautical Center should be very proud of this accomplishment!" This year, 34,000 employees and nearly 500 companies from across the state participated in the Top Workplace survey.

This is the 8th consecutive year that Energage and The Oklahoman have offered this survey. They measure 15 culture drivers that are determined by 14 years of research. "This is such a thrill to see our facility represented in this manner," says Michelle Coppedge, Director of the Mike Monroney Aeronautical Center. "I wish I could say that I was surprised by this ranking, but from the moment I began working at this facility in 2004, I knew right away that the people and the talents exhibited here (at this location) were as unique as the operations and services that are provided. Everyone here has the ability to grow and learn on the job, and many people recognize that the work performed here actually makes a difference."

Being ranked as 16th among Oklahoma’s Top Workplaces, reinforces that career opportunities, compensation, benefits, leadership and the work environment at the Aeronautical Center are in line with having an engaged workforce. Dan Keesler, Energage CEO explains, "Being recognized as a Top Workplace is more important than ever. Real connection is a two-way street. It requires more than top-down, company-wide communication. We learned what is most important to your employees, what you do well, and what you could do better. And one thing remains abundantly clear; what mattered to your employees in the past, matters even more right now."

"This is a great accomplishment - one worth celebrating! We couldn’t be happier in receiving this recognition. There are numerous organizations at our location, and while all of our missions may vary, you will find camaraderie here that you don’t find in many workplaces. At times, it feels like we’re working with extended family," says Kevin O’Connor, Deputy Director of the Mike Monroney Aeronautical Center.

The Aeronautical Center is one among 18 newcomers to the 2020 Top Workplace competition. Businesses are grouped into one of three categories: Small (125 or fewer employees), Medium (125-349 employees) or Large (350 or more employees). As a large business, the Aeronautical Center received high markings from employees regarding their immediate supervisors. Employees feel listened to and supported. In fact, the Aeronautical Center was in the 75th percentile for just this one category. This achievement reinforces the credibility of the Federal Aviation Administration and the Mike Monroney Aeronautical Center’s ability to recruit prospective applicants and attract top talent, as everyone wants to be part of a winning team!

Congratulations to all Mike Monroney Aeronautical Center employees for creating an engaged work atmosphere that continues to not only survive through the world’s current challenges, but to thrive.
