Exciting developments are on the horizon for Oklahoma City’s transportation network!
Vol.10 Issue 1

The Regional Transportation Authority (RTA) of Central Oklahoma is currently exploring new transit routes, specifically in the Airport and West corridors, with the potential for high-capacity routes that could revolutionize the way we move around the city.

A recent RTA virtual town hall meeting provided an opportunity to dive into the details of this ambitious project and understand the progress of the Alternatives Analysis study. It was a chance to stay informed and have questions answered by experts involved in shaping the future of transit in Oklahoma City.

The West and Airport Corridors were pinpointed in the 2021 Transit System Plan as key regional corridors to be explored for high-capacity transit routes. Similar to the successful process recently completed for the North/South and East Corridors, the West and Airport Corridors underwent the Alternatives Analysis Process.

But what exactly was an Alternatives Analysis? It was a comprehensive process used to discover, refine, and select a transit service that aligned with local goals, needs, and visions. This ensured that the chosen transit solutions catered to the unique requirements of the community they serve.

The Regional Transportation Authority of Central Oklahoma (RTA) plays a vital role in these endeavors. Established in 2019 under Oklahoma state laws, the RTA is a regional, independent government agency. Their mission revolves around developing, funding, constructing, and operating transit projects within the district boundaries.

The virtual town hall was a success, and participants explored the possibilities of enhanced transit in our vibrant city. Community involvement is crucial in shaping the future of transportation in Oklahoma City.

Let’s move forward together!
