MMAC Seeks Volunteers for LitterBlitz   April 13th, 2024
Vol.10 Issue 3
LitterBlitz 2024 is scheduled for April 13, 2024 from 9:00a.m. to Noon

On your way into work at the Aeronautical Center, take notice of the condition of the roadsides. One might see trash blown about by Oklahoma’s famous wind that comes "…sweepin’ down the plain." Each year during the month of April, the City of Oklahoma City and OKC Beautiful (a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization) team up to fight litter through a program called LitterBlitz.

This program seeks organizations, businesses and individual volunteers across the entire city to form teams to pick up litter. The Mike Monroney Aeronautical Center is forming a team to clean the roadsides surrounding the facility (spanning from SW 59th Street and Regina Avenue to SW 89th Street and MacArthur Boulevard). The date has been set to Saturday, April 13th, 2024 from 9:00 a.m. to Noon to clean up our community.

An enjoyable time with friends and family is certain when attending the LitterBlitz.
Groups and individuals join together to beautify the areas surrounding the Mike Monroney Aeronautical Center.

As the proverbial saying goes, "Many hands make light work," and so we are seeking volunteers to help us clean the area of debris. The more people who show up, the easier and faster the job gets done. It’s a great time to bring friends and family members, to perform a community service that improves the appearance around the Aeronautical Center and our city. It’s also a great way to breathe fresh air and get a bit of exercise.

Each volunteer will receive supplies to perform the duties, including gloves and large garbage bags. After an initial safety briefing, people are free to collect trash from the area of their choice. Garbage bags that become full are tied and left along the side of the road, and other designated volunteers collect them and deliver them to a centralized location.

After the event, the city is notified of where the pile is located, saving time and money in disposing of the trash properly.

Please consider giving of your time to keep our local area clean. Volunteers are asked to meet at 9:00 a.m. in the MMAC Visitor’s Center parking lot, on Saturday, April 13th, 2024. To help us determine the quantity of supplies, and if we have ample coverage for the three designated areas, please REGISTER ONLINE NOW. For more information, please reach out to Bryan Dahlvang or via (405)954-4675.

Please note: In the event of inclement weather, LitterBlitz will be rescheduled.
